Upcoming Episodes

Pastor Mike and René Lemon will be talking to Pastor Philip Lee, who after experiencing a tragic loss that shook his life, discovered the blessings that you too may experience during your afflictions—how you can be filled with joy and peace in the midst of tragedy and pain.

Pastor Mike and René Lemon were also honored to spend time with Dr. George Cho, ND and his twin brother, Daniel, who is the president of Lifestyle is Medicine, a non-profit organization. George and Daniel’s personal experience with lifestyle medicine transformed their spiritual journey.

Dr. George Cho, ND, will also be discussing the secrets of living longer.

Steve Matthews (Executive Director) and Analyn Bruce (Development Program Director) of ADRA Canada will open our eyes to the harsh realities of living in a developing country and raising a family in an episode entitled “ADRA Canada: Embracing Mothers and Children”.

Saved

“Saved” is a power word that packs a punch. Imagine if you could say: “I saved my money and bought one thousand bitcoins when they were worth ten dollars each, and now they are worth a fortune.”

“Saved” is a relationship word, as in: “I saved you a seat next to me in Socials class.”

“Saved” is a gratitude word, as in: “I am so thankful I saved that document before the battery died on my computer.”

In my experience, it is only when I felt the need to be “saved,” only when I was convinced I could not save myself, that I was thankful for a saviour.

Let me tell you the story.

My youngest daughter and I once needed to be saved; we were lost— hopelessly lost!

We weren’t at sea or driving on the freeway; we were in the mountains—lost. A blanket of fog had obscured our visibility and we were blind to our way of escape. We had no map, no GPS, not even a compass—we lacked any orienteering equipment to help us transcend our mess. We were a group of ten hikers hunting for our way out, but it was impossible. Countless fallen logs, myriads of mossy boulders, and unstoppable rain were ganging up to forbid us from finding freedom.

And then it began to snow! What next?

That was when I literally cried out to God. No, the snow didn’t stop, and I did not hear a voice from heaven telling me: “This is the way; walk ye in it.” Nothing changed, but everything changed. I was at peace—I knew we would be all right. I just knew it.

In time, God provided our way of escape: a 27-ton, 52-foot flying fortress—a Chinook helicopter—owned by the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Although we were legitimately lost, and that experienced caused me to appreciate the forces who came to our rescue, the truth is that all humanity is much more lost than we were that day. In Luke 19:10, Jesus affirmed: “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (KJV).

God’s rescue mission meant sending—no, not a flying fortress—but Jesus, who “toiled with persistent, earnest, untiring effort for the salvation of lost mankind. From the manger to Calvary He followed the path of self-denial” (Steps to Christ, pg. 78).

At It Is Written Canada, our deep desire is to lift the blanket of fog that obscures the vision of people across Canada—to reveal a kind, compassionate Saviour—the only One who can save.

Thank you for supporting us with your prayers and financial contributions so that we can continue connecting Canadians to the abundant life found in Jesus in a way that is personal and relevant.

If you are feeling lost today, Jesus desires to save you. Reach out to Him in prayer, and He will give you the relief, comfort and assurance that you too are saved—eternally saved.

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:11-13 NKJV).

Health Nugget

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2 NKJV).

“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you” (Exodus 23:25 NKJV).

God wants you to be healthy!

High Protein Oat and Garbanzo Bean Waffles

For the waffles:

3 cups rolled oats
1 cup dried raw garbanzo beans (chickpeas), soaked overnight, then drained and rinsed (do not substitute canned chickpeas)
½ – 1 teaspoons salt
5 cups water

Topping ideas:
Fresh berries
Maple syrup
Nut butter of choice
Coconut whipped cream

Instructions:

  • Pre-heat your waffle maker. If your waffle iron tends to stick, lightly coat with cooking spray, or brush both plates with a neutral-flavored oil before pouring the batter for each waffle.
  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour one waffle’s worth of batter into your waffle maker and cook according to your waffle maker’s instructions. Waffles are done when uniformly golden brown on the outside. Note: Immediately after removing the waffles from the waffle iron, the insides of these waffles may appear a little under-done. Let them sit for 3-5 minutes before serving. If cooking to serve all at once, keep waffles warm in a 200 degrees F oven, on a cooling rack placed over a baking sheet. Centers will set while warming.
  • Repeat with remaining batter, thinning batter as needed. (Due to the blended oats in the recipe, the batter will thicken after the first or second waffle has cooked; stir in an additional 1/3 cup of water into the uncooked batter to keep it pourable).

Enjoy!
